a second freebie this month + a little family project :)

I’m popping into your inbox again to deliver a surprise bonus handprint craft this month!

This one is a little different... and very close to my heart.

It features a sweet little character named Alex, sailing on a boat he made himself, with a motivational quote for your kiddos:
“I can build ANYTHING. I just have to try!”

You can download the free handprint craft here:

This one is close to my heart because it was inspired by something special my husband has been working on.

He recently wrote and self-published a children’s book, “Alex and the Sea of Possibilities.”

He dedicated it to our two boys and reads it to them at bedtime. :)

The message behind it is something we care deeply about as parents.

We want our boys to:

  • Stay curious
  • Try new things
  • And most of all: Get up and try again when something doesn't work out the first time.

Failure means that they tried something and learned something... and they should be proud of that!

So, to reinforce that lesson for them, the heart of his book is simple:
Try
Fail
Learn
Try again!

We are always talking about this in our home because we believe it will set them up for success, so it felt really special to turn it into both a story and a keepsake craft you can make with your kids too. :)

I hope you're able to discuss this theme with your kiddos or students while you make this craft!

If you enjoy the craft and you are able or interested, supporting my husband’s book would mean the world to our little family. There is absolutely no pressure at all. I truly just wanted to share something meaningful with you with a motivational theme for the New Year!

You can read more about the book (on Amazon) here:

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for being part of this little community. Your support, encouragement, and kind messages never go unnoticed. :)

Before I go, I would love your input:

Do you have any requests for the February free handprint craft?
(Just hit reply if you do.)

I read every message!

Thanks again,
Lisa

PS- In all honesty... while we agreed we wanted to teach this mindset to our kids... we didn't expect how HARD it would be to watch them fail and try again.

What I'm MOST proud of is that my husband weaved that feeling into his story.

It has a lesson for the parents to consider as well, while they're reading to their kiddos.

(I cried the first time I read it to my son- and I'm not a crier!)

Okay, that's all.

Thank you for allowing me to brag about him. :)

Good morning! It's been a LONG year so far, but we've made it to March 1st.... I'm not going to lie. I'm tired. My husband and I both work from home in Puerto Vallarta. We are extremely grateful and blessed to be safe and well with our kids. While the vandalism occurred in the streets of Puerto Vallarta last Sunday, we were privileged enough to be able to keep our two little boys safe at home with us. Our family and friends across Mexico are also doing well and I'm happy to report everything...

Happy February 1st! I know I usually send your free handprint crafts in the morning, but this weekend has been jam-packed so I'm JUST sitting down to the computer today. The boys and I got to cheer on my husband at a CrossFit tournament all weekend! It was SO cool to see him pushing himself and doing so well. And most importantly, our kids got to see him being a great sport, trying his best, and supporting his teammates. These lessons are really best when they're seen, not just told. I'm so...

Happy New Year! I hope your night went well. We rang in the new year last night by taking the boys to the beach to watch the fireworks. Sand everywhere, tired kids, big smiles! My husband and I did not crawl into bed until about 4:00 am, so today is definitely a slow coffee kind of morning around here. :) But, I'm here delivering your January freebie while my husband and oldest son watch science experiment videos together! This one is extra special to me because I designed it with my own boys...
