a second freebie this month + a little family project :)

I’m popping into your inbox again to deliver a surprise bonus handprint craft this month!

This one is a little different... and very close to my heart.

It features a sweet little character named Alex, sailing on a boat he made himself, with a motivational quote for your kiddos:
“I can build ANYTHING. I just have to try!”

You can download the free handprint craft here:

This one is close to my heart because it was inspired by something special my husband has been working on.

He recently wrote and self-published a children’s book, “Alex and the Sea of Possibilities.”

He dedicated it to our two boys and reads it to them at bedtime. :)

The message behind it is something we care deeply about as parents.

We want our boys to:

  • Stay curious
  • Try new things
  • And most of all: Get up and try again when something doesn't work out the first time.

Failure means that they tried something and learned something... and they should be proud of that!

So, to reinforce that lesson for them, the heart of his book is simple:
Try
Fail
Learn
Try again!

We are always talking about this in our home because we believe it will set them up for success, so it felt really special to turn it into both a story and a keepsake craft you can make with your kids too. :)

I hope you're able to discuss this theme with your kiddos or students while you make this craft!

If you enjoy the craft and you are able or interested, supporting my husband’s book would mean the world to our little family. There is absolutely no pressure at all. I truly just wanted to share something meaningful with you with a motivational theme for the New Year!

You can read more about the book (on Amazon) here:

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for being part of this little community. Your support, encouragement, and kind messages never go unnoticed. :)

Before I go, I would love your input:

Do you have any requests for the February free handprint craft?
(Just hit reply if you do.)

I read every message!

Thanks again,
Lisa

PS- In all honesty... while we agreed we wanted to teach this mindset to our kids... we didn't expect how HARD it would be to watch them fail and try again.

What I'm MOST proud of is that my husband weaved that feeling into his story.

It has a lesson for the parents to consider as well, while they're reading to their kiddos.

(I cried the first time I read it to my son- and I'm not a crier!)

Okay, that's all.

Thank you for allowing me to brag about him. :)

Good morning! I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee, waiting for my 3-year-old to wake up, and excited to deliver your June freebie. :) I had so much fun designing this one yesterday. Lately, my boys have been completely obsessed with soccer. They've been collecting player stamps in their FIFA books and learning about all the different teams that will be coming to Mexico in the next few weeks to play. (My husband teaches them while I listen.) So when I sat down to create a Father's Day craft...

Thank you to everyone who replied to my Mother’s Day email this morning! Reading through your messages made my day. A few replies made me laugh, a lot of them made me tear up, and all of them reminded me how lucky I am to have such kind people in this little community. I hope you feel comfortable enough to hit reply to any of my emails and let me know how you're doing. I really love being able to connect with other moms from "home" while living abroad. :) Congratulations to Ruthanne, who was...

Before the day gets away from me, I just wanted to send a quick Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in my little corner of the internet… and also to the daycare providers, preschool teachers, and caregivers who spend their days loving on little ones and supporting families. :) I know Mother’s Day can look really different from person to person. Some of you are in the thick of raising tiny humans. Some of you spent the week helping a classroom full of kids create special gifts for their...
